KILLDOZER (1974) is a made-for-TV movie about an American construction crew building an airstrip on a remote island off the coast of Africa. When one of their bulldozers strikes a buried meteorite, a mysterious power transfers from the rock to the dozer's blade, and the hulking machine goes on a rampage of death and destruction. The most wonderful aspect of KILLDOZER is its tender homoeroticism, which is likely intentional given the author of the original 1944 novella and co-writer of the teleplay is Theodore Sturgeon, who was bisexual.
Stunt performer Carey Loftin previously worked on Steven Spielberg's DUEL (1971), a television film about a man who's stalked by a sinister semi-truck.
It's very possible KILLDOZER inspired the extraterrestrial premise of Stephen King's MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (1986).
Also check out TV movie DEATH CAR ON THE FREEWAY (1979) about a van-driving serial killer who's hunted down by a badass journalist (Shelley Hack of CHARLIE'S ANGELS).
