ChicagoRuby: North Shore

Details

ChicagoRuby: North Shore meets on the 1st Saturday of each month. The Glenview Library is located across the street from the Metra train station. There's plenty of free parking. Come on out!

The Ruby Programming Language is an expressive full feature language heavily influenced by sh, perl, smalltalk, eiffel, ada and lisp.

Everyone is invited to present. Let the Doug or Stu know what your interested in, what you want to do and what you have already tried. At North Shore Ruby we are all students and teachers and acknowledge that we learn from each other to achieve our personal and professional goals.

At December's meeting, Doug will (1) provide an updated list of ROR resources. He previously gave this presentation to ChicagoRuby Elmhurst. And (2) he'll discuss why he's using Twitter Bootstrap rather than Zurb Foundation. It will be interesting to learn what others are using and whether anyone locally is combining the best of both (as some professionals are doing). Presentations are informal and questions welcome.

What would you like to learn about?

We're soliciting presentations on: Creating a Rails template, using Neo4j and / or MongoDB with ROR, using multiple databases in the same application, RubyMotion (and RubyMotion vs IOS), successful wireframing [my attempts look like PowerPoint slides], designing the architecture of a large project. Presentations should run 5 - to 15 minutes.

RubyCaribe in January

Level up your skills. At RubyCaribe (pronounced ka-REEB) each 30-minute presentation will be followed by a 2-hour lab tied directly to the presentation. RubyCaribe.com (http://rubycaribe.com)
