RubyMotion for Rubyists
This talk is for Rubyists with little or no iOS dev experience. The presenter will give particular emphasis to the fundamental concepts involved, such as the lifecycle of an app, views, view controllers, iOS style MVC, "controllers of controllers", and other essentials. Since ChicagoRuby is an audience of Rubyists, the presenter will use the most Ruby-like idioms possible, rather than simply transcribing an Objective-C program. We'll cover BubbleWrap, Teacup, and other great new tools that might evolve within the RubyMotion community over the summer.
About the Presenter
Bill Svec is a software dev in the Chicago area. By day, he writes .net code. By night he works in Ruby on Rails, iOS, and Node.js. His nights are much more fun.
After most downtown meetings we head over to Elephant & Castle (185 N. Wabash) for refreshments & fellowship. Join us for a few minutes if you have time.
Please use your real name when you RSVP for downtown ChicagoRuby meetings. Reason: We are required to give a list of all attendees to the security desk prior to the meeting. If the name on your ID doesn't the match the name on the RSVP list, then Aon security will not let you in the building. Sorry for the inconvenience, but those are the rules of the Aon Building.
