Exmoor National Park - Heddon Valley Exmoor

Details
Walk length 11 miles/17.7 km approx. Circular.
This walk takes in a mixture of coastal paths and wooded valleys across a picturesque part of the Exmoor National park using the Heddon Valley.
Some of the land on this walk is owned by the National Trust and the areas are categorized as Sites of Special Scientific Interest, the cliffs are some of the highest in England, with scree-covered slopes rising over 800ft.
There is a great deal of wildlife from coastal birds such as razorbills, guillemots and kittiwake to forest birds such woodpeckers and wood warblers in the oak woodland.
This walk uses parts of some major paths such as The South West Coast Path (England's longest waymarked path, 630 miles) and the Tarka Trail a 163 mile walk and cycle path containing landscapes associated with the famous novel Tarka the Otter, written by Henry Williamson in 1927.
One of a series of four walks taking in the beautiful countryside of the Exmoor National Park, covering coast, woodland and moors.
