Bloomberg is a big-time user of Hadoop and HBase (with extreme low-latency), and we will have a guest speaker talking about their use cases! Bloomberg has presented at conferences like Hadoop Summit and HBaseCon so they've got the content to fill the whole meeting. I think everybody will find this fascinating!
This is tentatively being scheduled to be held at Case in conjunction with the Case HackSoc.
Location: Millis Science Center. Millis Hall is in the center of campus off Adelbert Road.
Parking: Severance Hall (on Euclid) has an underground structure. Veale deck (on Adelbert) are good candidates.
5:00 - pizza, networking (Hovorka Atrium).
6pm - announcements, recruiting shoutouts,
presentation starts (Millis Schmitt Lecture Hall)
Afterwards, we can go out for beers.
