Cleveland Big Data and Hadoop User Group

Update:  9-27-2012.  Due to the number of folks attending I moved the meeting to Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Building, which is across the street from our office (10000 Cedar).

The room number in Lerner is NA1-142, which is on the 1st floor.  The easiest entrance to the bulding is the one on East 100th in between Cedar and Carnegie.  We'll make sure that are some Explorys folks at the door so you can get in.

Topics:

* Brief intro to Hadoop Doug)

For those that are new to Hadoop, Doug will do a brief overview.  This is something that we will be continuing in each meeting going forward.

* Alternate HBase Input Format for Batch Jobs (Keith).

This is something that Explorys will be open-sourcing.

* Spark (Casey)

Casey will give an overview of Spark (http://www.spark-project.org/)

* R and Hadoop (Scott Marsh)

    Good morning,

    Forrester Research is holding an event hosted by Vice President and Practice Leader Kyle McNabb, on Thursday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Morton’s Steakhouse in Cleveland.

    To help you maximize the wealth of customer information stored in disparate databases, data warehouses, social networks, files, and logs to deliver engaging digital experiences for competitive advantage, I’d like to invite you to Forrester’s event – Harnessing Customer Information: "Big Data's" Role In Delivering Engaging Digital Experiences.

    You’ll connect with Forrester experts and other industry leaders to discuss the latest trends in customer data management — including big data and predictive analytics — as the affect your business.

    Many thanks,
    Jen
