About us
Cover6 Community is one of the largest cybersecurity communities in the country. Founded in 2012 and nearly 10,000 members strong, we bring together career changers, students, SOC analysts, pentesters, and CISOs — all under one roof.
We run free virtual meetups covering offensive and defensive security, career development, certification strategy, and hands-on tool demos — all at the unclassified level. Whether you're building your first home lab or leading a security program, there's a seat at the table.
Our community is powered by Cover6 Solutions, a veteran-owned cybersecurity and vCISO firm. Through Cover6 Academy, we also offer affordable certification practice exams (CompTIA Security+, Network+, and more) built by practitioners who've been in the field.
No gatekeeping. No fluff. Just real people helping each other level up.
Stay in the loop — subscribe to The 6, our community newsletter, for meetup recaps, career tips, and cybersecurity news.

Passive Recon & OSINT (2026)
·OnlineOnlinePassive recon (OSINT) is the practice of gathering intelligence about people and organizations using publicly available sources—without sending traffic to the target. This is a core cyber skill and a huge advantage for job interviews, meetings, and business development.
What we’ll cover:
• A simple OSINT workflow (collect → analyze → report)
• Free tools for people + organization research
• Google techniques to uncover site content and docs
• Historical data sources (archives, breaches)

Attack Surface 101: Asset Inventory + Exposure (CISO Lens)
·OnlineOnlineCybersecurity isn’t just about tools—it’s about visibility. If you don’t know what you have, you can’t secure it.
In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll break down Attack Surface Management (ASM) using a practical CISO lens: what matters, what doesn’t, how to prioritize risk, and how to take action without getting overwhelmed.
🎯 What We’ll Cover
- What “attack surface” means (and why it’s bigger than you think).
- Internet-facing vs internal assets (and why exposure wins).
- How CISOs prioritize: risk, impact, likelihood, and ownership.
- A simple process to discover and document public-facing assets.
- Turning findings into a basic action plan (fix / track / monitor).
