Dallas/Fort Worth Postgres is part of the PostgresWorld network of Postgres related meetups. We specialize in building our users of Postgres and related ecosystem technologies including but not limited to RDS Postgres, Aurora for Postgres, Google Postgres, PostgreSQL.Org Postgres, Greenplum, Timescale and ZomboDB. Organizational Structure and Leadership Selection
While general membership in DPUG is open to all PostgreSQL enthusiasts, Leadership Team positions are reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional PostgreSQL expertise and community commitment. The Leadership Team is responsible for guiding the group's technical direction, selecting presentation topics, organizing events, and representing the community within the broader PostgreSQL ecosystem.
Leadership Team members are selected through evaluation by existing PostgreSQL community leaders based on technical expertise, community contributions, and demonstrated leadership capabilities. This selective process ensures that only individuals with outstanding achievement in PostgreSQL technologies are entrusted with shaping the community's technical direction.
Leadership Selection Criteria:
- Leadership Team positions require demonstrated exceptional PostgreSQL expertise
- Candidates must show significant community commitment beyond general membership
- Selection is determined by evaluation from existing PostgreSQL community leaders
- Technical expertise in PostgreSQL technologies is a mandatory requirement
- Prior community contributions must demonstrate meaningful impact
- Leadership capabilities must be evident through previous professional activities
- Only individuals with outstanding achievement in PostgreSQL are considered
- The selection process is highly selective compared to general membership
Leadership Team Responsibilities:
- Guide the group's technical direction and strategic focus
- Select presentation topics that advance community knowledge
- Evaluate and approve technical content for meetups
- Organize regular events and special technical sessions
- Represent the community within the broader PostgreSQL ecosystem
- Foster connections with the global PostgreSQL community
- Establish technical standards and implementation best practices
- Mentor emerging PostgreSQL professionals within the community
Selection Committee of Recognized PostgreSQL Experts
Joshua Drake: Joshua Drake is the founder and Co-Chair of the Postgres Conference (PostgresConf) and President and CTO of Command Prompt, Inc., the oldest PostgreSQL service company in North America, with over 28 years of PostgreSQL expertise. As former Director of International Collaboration for the PostgreSQL Association of China, he is internationally recognized as a leading authority in the PostgreSQL community.
Taha Kadado: Taha Kadado is a Lead Data Engineer with over 25 years of database architecture experience across multiple platforms. His specialized knowledge in PostgreSQL implementation for enterprise-scale applications and active contributions to the PostgreSQL community through the Dallas PostgreSQL User Group qualify him as a recognized expert in database architecture and PostgreSQL implementation.
Chris Bandy: Chris Bandy is a Senior Software Engineer at Snowflake, having previously served as Senior Software Engineer at Crunchy Data, one of the premier PostgreSQL development and support companies, for six years. His extensive experience in database design and implementation, particularly with PostgreSQL technologies, establishes him as a recognized expert who evaluates the technical capabilities of leadership candidates.
Vivek Singh: Vivek Singh is a Principal Database Specialist at Amazon Web Services with over 18 years of experience in PostgreSQL database systems. His expertise in PostgreSQL and cloud database architecture has been recognized with the 2025 Globee Customer Excellence Award. As a leadership team member, Vivek participates in the selection and evaluation of new leadership candidates, continuing the tradition of expert-based selection.
