Join us for this fun and exciting fundraiser to support VegFest Colorado 2012 and host, Vegetarian Society of Colorado.
We will enjoy an exciting speaker, delicious food, a yummy dessert bar, live music, a silent auction and door prizes!
We are honored to have Marc Bekoff as the featured speaker (see Marc's bio below)!
Amanda Russcol is our wonderful chef, who is contributing her time, energy and cooking expertise to make this a very special evening!
Doors open at 6 PM
We will start with a Meet and Greet and delicious appetizers.
Marc Bekoff will begin speaking at about speak 6:30 PM, followed by a short Q&A.
Dinner will be served following the Q&A, at about 7:15ish.
Marc will have a book signing table available following his lecture.

*open-face beet ravioli with herbed cheese
Main:
*hearts of palm cakes (similar to crab cakes) served with sundried tomato and pesto *mac'n'cheese and a green salad

*coconut-banana-walnut-chocolate chunk ice cream

Marc Bekoff is a former Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is a Fellow of the Animal Behavior Society and a past Guggenheim Fellow. In 2000 he was awarded the Exemplar Award from the Animal Behavior Society for major long-term contributions to the field of animal behavior. Marc is also an ambassador for Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, in which he works with students of all ages, senior citizens, and prisoners, and also is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Jane Goodall Institute.
TOPIC:
ANIMAL EMOTIONS AND BEASTLY PASSIONS: WHO WE EAT IS A MORAL QUESTION
Marc will talk about the rich and deep emotional and moral lives of animals and why we should not eat them. When there is former living animal sitting on a plate (a platter of pain, suffering and death) or hanging off the end of a fork it's a matter of who's for dinner, not what's for dinner, and it's very easy for people to change their meal plans to exclude animals or animal products.
