10 Billion Lives Tour in Eugene and Corvallis

  • May 14, 2013 · 9:30 AM

I just received information about this 2 day event taking place in Eugene and Corvallis. Eugene Veggies has lots of people who are interested in vegan eating for ethical reasons. Thus, I thought it would be appropriate to let you know about the event and volunteer opportunity below.

There is no need to RSVP - unless you want to try to hook up with other Eugene Veggie members. This event posting is mainly to let you know what is going on -- and to provide a place for discussion if desired.

WARNING: The 4 minute video linked to below is the straight story, graphic and emotional. If you are not familiar with the lives of many farm animals, this would be a good way to start to educate yourself. I don't discourage you from watching it. I just wanted to give you fair warning.

Below is the e-mail that I received today:

I'm sorry for sending this on such short notice. I'm hoping you can post this event in case anyone would like to help inspire new vegans.

Farm Animal Rights Movement's “10 Billion Lives” tour is coming to Eugene and Corvallis! We'll be at the University of Oregon on May 14th & 15th and Oregon State University on May 16th from 9:30am-3:30pm each day. We’d love to have you join us!

Since launching the tour in May 2012, thousands of young people have watched the “10 Billion Lives” video showing the horrible truths of animal agriculture. Over 80% of the viewers have made a pledge to start on a path towards a vegan diet!

This ongoing success would not be possible without the help of local volunteers. In every city the tour stops, activists rally to the cause and help us reach even more people. Every volunteer makes a HUGE difference in the success of the events.

You can inspire viewers to put their compassion into action. There's nothing better than witnessing the moment when a person decides they're going vegan!

If you would like to volunteer for any period of time please email, text or call Ryan and he’ll send you a map with all the details.

This meetup could be held at the Ananda Health Center on 7th Ave. if someone will assume responsibility for setup and clean up. The Ananda Health Center (I manage the place) has several rooms, two restrooms and a kitchenette; it also has a parking lot off 7th and a fenced back lot. It is a great place with large windows. Let me know if .... I tried to add it to the calendar myself but it wouldn't let me.
Everyone there is interested in health food.

Chuck: If you look at the body of the message, they have the location all picked out. I just didn't have an exact address to put in the top of the page. It was generous of you to offer a location, though. Thanks for offering to help.
