Embedded Systems Design and Construction

This is a free online class. The course materials, videos, and a whole lot more are or will be available at this link. Watch the short introductory video by following the link in the upper right of this web page.

I will be hosting a weekly study session for members of this class. This will be on Monday evenings from about 8:00 to 9:00. I will not be so much teaching the class as available as a lab assistant and facilitator for anyone that would like an extra level of support. The class is aimed at makers that want to take their knowledge of embedded processors up a level. The study session is sponsored by Freeside Atlanta and the sessions are open to non-members as an educational outreach of Freeside Atlanta. It is suggested that attendees support the education mission of Freeside by making a voluntary donation of $5 per week, or $75 for the complete series, to Freeside Atlanta.

The official course starts on Thursday, January 23. I will be at Freeside Atlanta on Monday evenings, starting January 20 to answer questions and help anyone to get started with ordering materials if they want to do a group order. The class is 15 weeks in length which means the last study session will be May 5.

According to the link, above, the student may audit the class, take the class for free, or pay a small fee and receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class. I assume that means you have to finish the assignments to get the certificate.

Please read all the material available at the above link so you understand the extent of the class.

Lower turnout this week...guess my schedule is off one week for catching a crowd. Good info on memory allocation and the UTx course so far. Relieved that others find Keil as "busy" as I do.

I hope everyone stayed safe this week! Wow! Fun in the snow... skidding cars ... stuck in traffic? The snow will surely be gone by Monday night...

Participants are showing up without registering on Meetup. The group each night may be larger than what you see on the Meetup site. Please remember to support Freeside! This would not be happening if it were not for the support we are getting from the Freeside members.

We had a great turnout on Monday night and discussion was wide-ranging and helpful. We have met twice so far and between the two groups I know we have a nice solid interest in the subject. So far, the course has covered basics of computer and electronics theory and this will continue for a while longer. If this is an area where you need the opportunity to review and refresh your knowledge, I think the discussion would be very helpful and I look forward to hearing what you have to say. If you feel good with the basics, it is not too late to join the group. Find out more on the EdX website.
