Please join me on the annual "Day after Thanksgiving" day hike to San Gorgonio Peak (11,499 ft) via the Vivian Creek trail in the San Bernardino mountains. We will meet at the Vivian Creek trail head parking lot and plan to hit the trail by 7am on Friday Nov 28th (The day after Thanksgiving). You can find the Vivian Creek trailhead parking lot by googling directions to Forest Falls, CA and then following the main road through town up to the end where it dead ends at the parking lot. I will be driving either a dark gray Toyota Prius or a large white 4dr F250 ford truck. Once we meetup at the parking lot we will make our way across the Mill Creek river bed and take the Vivian Creek trail to the summit.
All Cars must display an Adventure Pass to park.
Severe weather will cancel.
This hike is approx. 16 miles round trip with about a 5400 foot climb to an elevation of about 11,499 ft. Please do not take this hike lightly.. It is one of the hardest hikes in Southern California. Remember to bring a head lamp since day light savings is over by this time. It will get dark early!
When we come down we can optionally drop in to Casa Maya Restaurant in Mentone for some Yucatan Penisula specialty mexican food. Casa Maya is located at 1839 Mentone Blvd Mentone, CA 92359. They are on the northwest corner of Mentone Blvd (Route 38) and Turquoise Ave.
