This hike is not closed. Please sign up on the waiting list.
This is an awesome hike that begins in the La Quinta Cove and ends at the Sawmill/Cactus Springs Trail-head in Pinyon Flats. The distance one way is approximately 16 miles. There is approximate 6,000 plus feet elevation gain. This trail takes about 8 hours at a comfortable pace. The Guadalupe Trail is a cross-country route following an old Indian path through the heart of the Santa Rosa
Mountains from the desert to the pines. This is a strenuous hike. Bring 3 liters of water at least, food, pliers and a comb (for Chollas) and clothing for cooler and unpredictable weather, plus the regular hiking essentials.
We will start in the La Quinta Cove and cross a section of desert for about 2 miles. Then we will ascend the Boohoff Trail, which will intersect with the Guadalupe. We will then take the Guadalupe to the Cactus Springs Trail, which will lead us to the Sugarloaf Cafe.
We will have our PHC at the Sugarloaf Cafe, which is now open!
We will be meeting at the Cactus Springs/Sawmill Trail-head at 5:30 am and we will arrange a car shuttle to the La Quinta Cove from there.
The following is a link that shows a map of the trail:
