Humanist Monthly Program: Take It to the Streets!

Details
Humanists “work to uphold the equal enjoyment of human rights and civil liberties in an open, secular society.” -Humanism and Its Aspirations
Tom Morgan will not be silent in the face of injustice. Tom was the founding State Lead Organizer of GetEQUAL Ohio, a state chapter of the national group. He also served on the Executive Board of Freedom to Marry-Ohio. As an independent activist, Tom is a big fan of rallying friends first and then others into action whenever the need arises. A group of Tom’s friends and other supporters brought Ohio the first ever Marriage Equality billboard. Tom plans to march with the billboard image in the Columbus PRIDE parade. Tom recently got involved with the Bexley City Council debates concerning a proposed anti-discrimination ordinance. Tom describes himself as an activist and gay guy in a 17 year relationship with his "room-mate.”
A few days before SCOTUS makes a decision on marriage equality, Tom will give the Humanist Community some "straight talk from a guy who isn’t.” Tom will expose how the expression "religious freedom” is used as a code word for discrimination. Tom will share the real and ordinary hopes underlying the so-called "gay agenda." According to Tom, encouraging folks to stand up for the fair and equitable treatment of all people will harm no one. In “Take It to the Streets,” Tom Morgan will share his experiences as an activist, talk about what keeps him motivated, and offer his strategies for ways we can all make a difference.
Join us at 12:30 for pizza in the meeting room! The formal meeting starts at 1:00.
