- Humanist Program: If Legislators Can Do Educators' Jobs, Can We Do Theirs?Columbus Metropolitan Library: Parsons Branch, Columbus, OH
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
Meeting ID: 864 4107 8826
The formal presentation will start at noon. This month's presentation will be from Steve Rissing, who will present on Ohio Senate Bill 83 that would eliminate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training, “Controversial Beliefs or Policies” and would remove state funding to any school with no formal review process, requiring only "credible information" before funding is seized.
- COUNT Kitchen Service @ Van Buren ShelterCommunity Shelter Board, Columbus, OH
COUNT (Central Ohio United Non Theists) invites HCCO members to assist in serving dinners and cleaning up at the Van Buren homeless shelter. You should enter at the front door denoted with a blue mark on the image above and tell them you are volunteering in the kitchen. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
TO RSVP FOR THIS EVENT, PLEASE GO TO THE COUNT MEETUP ANNOUNCEMENT. Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since volunteers will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.

- Freethinkers Media Club: Share What You're Reading, Watching, & Listening ToLink visible for attendees
Welcome to the Freethinker Media Club! We define "Freethinker" as a person who forms their own opinions about important subjects (such as religion, science, morality and politics) instead of accepting traditional dogma.
We use the philosophy of freethinking to frame our discussions about the media we're consuming on a regular basis--whether that be books, music, movies, podcasts, articles, or anything else. Each meeting we give every person present the chance to share what they're reading, watching, or listening to with the group and their take on it. We let discussion go where it may and encourage new ideas and perspectives.
This group is less about what we're consuming and more about how we process it. If you're finding value somewhere, if you're being challenged, if you're expanding your mind and informing yourself then this is platform to share that with others.
If you are ready for stimulating community on a broad spectrum of topics, then please join us for some great discussion.
