Making Decorations for Day of the Dead Event

Details

You will never be able to say that involvement with Humanists Doing Good doesn't offer you unique opportunities to do things you might otherwise not have the opportunity to do after you read this! Martin Mortuary will be hosting its first ever Day of the Dead celebration on November 1st and 2nd. Proceeds from this event will be donated to our local Hospice center; HopeWest. Humanists Doing Good has been asked if our volunteers would be interested in helping make decorations for this event. Therefore, we're posting this event notice to see if our volunteers would like to sign up to help. This would involve things like making tissue paper flowers at the mortuary on October 2nd at 4:00 pm. Pizza and drinks will be provided for people who volunteer to help make decorations at that time.

The actual Day of the Dead event that the decorations will be used for will take place on November 1st and 2nd. The mortuary will open their doors to the public on those days from 9 am - 9 pm. This event will provide an opportunity for people to honor their deceased loved ones and the lives they lived. The mortuary wants to not only provide a sanctuary for the public to honor their loved ones, but also wishes to educate the community and share in different cultures and traditions. The event will consist of various activities for children as well as an art exhibit featuring local artists' pieces.

If you would like to volunteer to help on October 2nd to make decorations for this event, please RSVP. Please also understand that RSVPs will help the mortuary determine the amount of food and drink to they will need to purchase.
