December potluck, demo night, and BIG Adobe $2K giveaway

OK, folks, this is the BIG one. The one you've been waiting for. You've attended faithfully throughout the past six months, quietly racking up those raffle tickets in my big MAX tote bag, hoping the odds will stack ever-so-carefully in your favor as we approach the next big raffle: up to $2,100 worth of Adobe CS5 products, in our December meeting. Please be thinking about what you will demo at our meeting: Thursday, December 2, 2010 at JCCC. Your demo can be anything you're working on, new tips or techniques you've learned, some new product that will save us all hours of design time, or a deliverable you've come up with for a client or customer. Show and tell! You know you loved it in kindergarten, it's making a comeback -- only with adult-size showing and telling! The rules for this demo are simple: keep it short (5-10 minutes), keep it fresh (don't drag in the same old stuff you've done every year), and keep it relevant (no demos of new vacuum cleaner technology, unless you're showing us the Flash site you did for its release). Also, bring something to eat. We're designers, we're geeks, we need food (and caffeine). There will be no pizza on this night, so we're on our own. Fire up the CrockPot® and put it to work! Here's how you will qualify for the big raffle -- what goes into the drawing bag? 1. The raffle tickets you've accumulated for the past few months; 2. The raffle ticket you'll earn for showing up on December 2; 3. The raffle ticket you'll earn for giving us your best demo; 4. The raffle ticket you'll earn for bringing food for the potluck; 5. The raffle tickets you purchase on that evening for $10 each. All proceeds will go toward supporting our Meetup.com subscription (which costs $15 a month!) or the occasional supply-runs you know I'll be doing in the next year. See you then -- I've been saving some great books and schwag for this very special night to close out a great year for KCDesignCore!

My first one and it surely lived up to the excitement generated by Dee and Buck leading up to the day :)

The demos were very interesting and gave a glimpse of the variety of skills and the expertise that this group has.

Need to get better with food :D and probably get little more organized to streamline the demos.

This meeting couldn't have been better for me ;•)
Thanks again to Buck, Dee and Adobe for making these grand prize drawings possible. I'm amazed every time when I see the great talents and abilities shown when we do group demos. Thanks again, Regina, for the great tip on getting editors organized, and thanks to everyone else for their great demos.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
