New Meetup: Scooters De Los Muertos! Plus other group miscellany...

Hello, Scooterists!

I've posted a new meetup for Saturday, October 24: Scooters De Los Muertos! This will be an all-scooter ride to the Day of the Dead celebration at Hollywood Forever. Dia De Los Muertos costumes and scooter decoration strongly encouraged. The details are still being settled, but you can read about the ride and RSVP here: Scooters De Los Muertos!

In an effort to keep emails to members to a minimum, we usually don't send out messages other than ride notifications and reminders. There are a few things going on that I wanted to get out there to the membership, so consider this our newsletter.

It may be time to lose our generic name and adopt something cool so we can make t-shirts and patches so everyone will know who they're dealing with out there on the roads. You cut one of us off in traffic, you cut all of us off. Details and discussion on the Message Board post here:

It's a sort of mini "Feasting on Asphalt" on scooters. We need suggestions for destination eateries for this and future outings. If there's a place you love to eat or have always wanted to try that might make for a fun ride, let us know on this Message Board post:

As all of you should know, a massive wildfire has been raging in the Angeles National Forest. Many popular scooter and motorcycle routes and destinations have been consumed, including much of the Angeles Crest Highway up to Mt. Wilson. I'm gathering a list of charities and services benefitting fire victims. The list will be posted on the site; we're hoping to organize some kind of benefit ride once the routes reopen. If you know of any or have other suggestions for how the scooter community can lend a hand, reply to this email or post to the Message Boards.

As big as this group is, there's plenty more going on for SoCal Scooterists. The most definitive calendar is the email newsletter from Mario of the South Bay Scooter Club. Sign up here:

The South Bay SC has monthly rides and is open to all scooters. Check out their schedule here:

There's a new Long Beach Area Meetup group and it's already very active.

Finally, the newly re-named San Diego Scooter Squadron is a bit far for most of us but is a great group in terms of involvement and frequency of their rides.
