Easy Walk on the Thompson Creek Trail

Want to get a taste of the Outdoor Nation without having to climb up steep mountain trails? Come join us for a nice and easy walk on the Thompson Creek Trail in Claremont.

The Thompson Creek Trail runs alongside a flood control channel south of Sycamore Canyon and the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. For the most part, the Thompson Creek Trail is a smooth, paved bicycle path with hardly any elevation gain. If you're looking for a good beginner hike, this is it.

We'll meet at the Thompson Creek parking lot on Indian Hill Avenue and walk easterly to Mills Avenue, where we will regroup. From there we will walk back the way we came and complete the walk where we started.

There are restrooms at the nearby Higginbotham Park, about a half mile west of the trailhead, should you wish to walk the extra half mile there.

DISTANCE: 2.15 miles RT

DIFFICULTY: This is considered an easy walk on a flat surface.

WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable clothing, walking shoes and enough water to properly hydrate yourself for 2 miles of walking. For most people 1-2 bottles of water is sufficient.

NO PLUS ONE'S: Even though this is an easy walk, we still require that each participant sign up for this event separately so we know who's coming and so each participant is fully aware of the event description and liability waiver. If you have someone you'd like to bring, just have them join the group and RSVP. Please don't ask if you can bring a Plus One. If you do, I will just direct you back to this paragraph. :-)
