A little Artist's Way newsletter...

From: Kateboo

Dear friends,

I've got a few things to tell you about so it's grown into a mini newsletter - enjoy!

Spirituality in the bowling alley: 18 August

There will be no Mutual Fanclub in August, however as a special treat, you're invited to join our friends over at Urban Unitarians meetup group for a bowling night on 18 August. Ethaar is hosting the event which will combine a dicussion about Robert Putman's work 'Bowling Alone' with a fun game or two of bowling. Sign up here: http://www.meetup.com/Urban-Unitarians/events/27623571/

THAT'S ME ON THE LEFT, IN THE PARKA @ Markson Pianos (Bob K's show!)

Mutual Fanclubber Bob K has been keeping us up to date with plans to put on his one man musical show in a piano showroom. You can read more about it here:  We're going to make this an Artist's Way social, so please join us on 9 September to see one of our own following his artistic path! Look out for the Meetup announcement soon.

New Artist's Way group in September

I've had a few enquiries about when a new Arist's Way group will be running. Generally, we start these in September and January as they seem to be the most popular times. I'm happy to host a new group through the site but I won't attend every week. I'll put up a suggested first meeting and if you're willing to be the contact person for the new group, please let me know.

Volunteering for wellbeing of mind, body and soul

Finally, this is slightly off-topic, but I think you'll be interested. As part of my job with The Challenge youth charity, I'm recruiting 300 volunteers to help on the weekends in September. It's a great opportunity to help teens in London to complete a community project. It's just four Saturdays or four Sundays in the autumn and it's guaranteed to leave you with a warm feeling inside. If you're interested, read on...

**Take on The Challenge to become a mentor to twelve teens this autumn!**
www.the-challenge.org/work-with-us/volunteer-with-us

The Challenge Network runs a youth and community programme that exists to inspire and connect people across Britain to strengthen their communities. It brings together sixteen-year-olds and challenges them to connect with people from different backgrounds, learn key skills for the workplace, and make a difference in their community. We are looking for Project Volunteers to work with a team of twelve young people and help them to fulfil their community project.

As a Project Volunteer, you’ll…

...support one team of twelve young people as they prepare for and deliver their project to bring together the local community through fundraising, campaigning or social action initiatives.
...build rapport with young people and use your experiences to be an inspiring role model.
...support the Challenge Mentor, who will have worked with the team of young people earlier in the summer, in overseeing team activities in the local community.
...provide important feedback to help The Challenge develop it’s framework for The Real Challenge across the country.
...commit to four Saturdays OR four Sundays in September/October*. On the final Saturday or Sunday, accompany your team members to an event where they meet local organisations and help them choose one to work with over the coming six months.
...attend a free day of training in September!

More info and apply now: www.the-challenge.org/work-with-us/volunteer-with-us

*Dates: 10th/11th Sept, 17th/18th Sept, 24th/25th Sept and 1st/2nd October

That's it for now! Enjoy the sunshine and see you soon,

Kateboo
