Monthly Members' Social Night!
Details
== Special theme this month ==
Mark Cheverton has been working with Rachel Drury and Simon Poulter, from a new Cambridge not-for-profit called Collusion, on an Arts Council funded project that's going to kick off later this year. Rachel ran the 'Is Cambridge a Smart City' event last year at the Union which some of you may remember, and this year she aims to push that further and explore how Cambridge can become a smarter city through bringing citizens, artists, and makers together.
There will be a series of events kicking off with a debate and then launch party at Makespace in October, then a series of Maker challenges on weekends from Dec to Feb, a city wide digital installation, and finally a significant artistic commission. Makespace is supporting the project with use of the space and we really need members who are interested to get involved with the Maker challenges. So on the 25th, Collusion will be bring the pizza, drinks, and cake, and it would be great if we could get a large turnout to hear their pitch and see if we can get a solid team together.
Of course the usual also applies:
The monthly social is a great chance for new members to meet everyone, and to chat about projects/how Makespace works. If this is your first members' social night, you must bring cake! Other people please bring savoury snacks, with consideration that we have a fair number of vegetarian makers :)
If you are a newer Makespace member, we really recommend these nights as a way to get involved and see what's going on at Makespace.
