Make a demo piece of Chain Reaction Rube Goldberg machine!
Hosted by Makespace (Cambridge, UK)
Details
We (The Cambridge Science Centre http://www.cambridgesciencecentre.org ) are going to construct a spectacular "Chain Reaction" machine on Saturday October 27th at the Cambridge Guild Hall. We will have a build day running up to the moment when the whole thing is set going and one contraption triggers another up and down the main hall. Last year's machine ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6EIjtwvOMY ) went off to great audience enjoyment (and we had a lot of fun too).
This year we want to build one bigger and better.
The parts of the chain will be made up of modules schools have made in advance using parts kits we're supplying, parts the public make on the day, and some pre-made spectacular units to link sections of the chain together and set off the finale. We thought you may be interested in getting involved by helping make a demonstration module (and video)
Come and spend an evening (Monday 10th September, 7-9:30) playing with the components we'll be sending to schools, building a small chain reaction module, for the fun of it and so we can video what you come up with (and the process) to provide inspiration for the teachers/kids(there will be snacks). https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif
We'll be using the Community Room at the Ross Street Community Centre (CB1 3UZ... Ross Street off Mill Road on the out-of-town side of the railway bridge).
If you're interested in signing up for any of that, or would like to know more, please get in touch (contact details below).
