If anyone's coming from North Van. or downtown, would it be possible to carpool? Thanks!!
Hi
I live just down the road from Po Kong. Both the No 19 and 22 buses from downtown stop within 1/2 block of the restaurant and run very frequently.
Would you all like a little social orchestration at this event? That means, we save tables for couples, tables for singles, tables for people under 30 etc.? Or is it preferable just to have no organization with regard to seating?
hmm..thats a good thought, Nancy :) I am attending with my parents who are visiting from India and we are four of us, so I will have to pass sitting on the singles table :) but we are open to more the merrier on one table!
Well, Nancy, I'm not sure what the overall demographic looks like, but if we're organizing by age and relationship status, it'd seem like a good idea to have a table or two for queer/lgbt folk who might like to dine together :)
My wife and I would be thrilled to dine at a table with some other queers! Thanks Nancy for all your hard work.
Hi Nancy ! - Thanks for asking, but I'm not in favour of your idea of social organization - in my opinion, a large part of the fun of coming to a Meetup is being able to connect with new and interesting people as we have a good meal. Integration, rather than segregation. In any case, many thanks for all your hard work !
I think the best compromise here is having the designated tables and some wild card tables, where there is no designation. It should be large enough to accommodate everyone's preference.
I am always into mixing up the groups and meeting new people. Whatever you decide Nancy is fine with me.
i want to sit at the table with cute, single girls who are filthy rich and want to invest their money in save the world entrepreneurs like me:-) (i'm kidding of course)
On a more serious note, how about a table for people who want to talk about how they make a difference?? And are willing/able to receive or give help along those lines... ??
If you like the idea & want to be part of the table, then feel free to click like on this comment & join me:-)
Hopefully Nancy is ok with that
To Matt;
please note that one of the menu items is "Sweet & Sour Pineapple Delight". I'm sure the organizers and the cooks tried to separate the ingredients that make up the sauce but couldn't as the co-exist so well. So, I called Mayor Moonbeam to get his opinion and he suggested that everyone remember that he was the founder and former CEO of Happy Planet Foods and advocates that everyone dine together and be happy and learn from each other rather than ghettoizing the city.
Got a message about holding spaces. Also got a message about notifying individuals. Sorry, we are unable to do either.
For what it's worth, I'm with Eliza. A random mix of people = a mix of ideas and perspectives.
Yeah, a table for singles would be great. I don't care to renovate my house or have kids to send to school, so I can't relate to "marrieds". Count me in for singles table.
Hello Po Kong diners! I really appreciate the attempts to keep your RSVPs up to date and make sure to cancel so waitlisters can get in and you are not a no show. Thanks very much. It helps so much.
But I am being inundated with email! Please manage your RSVP through the site, not by emailing me. I know the Meetup site is a bit of a learning curve, but it is not hard--just takes a few minutes to tool around and figure it out and you don't have to be under 35 to get it. I am living proof! :-)

This is a completely different menu from our last visit to Po Kong. Last time we had lesser known dishes. This time we are only going with their most popular ones.
