Dharma Kitchen is like a secret in that they do not advertise--you'd only know about them through word-of-mouth. It's unlikely you would even know that they exist even if you drove by. It's a veritable Kitsilano gem. Dharma Kitchen is commendable in using organic ingredients wherever possible, helping the planet and our bodies.

Here is the menu:

1/ Grilled tempeh (marinated in red wine, resembling a veggie steak more than tempeh, it is absolutely delicious)

2/ Grilled Eggplant & Tomato (eggplant and tomato halves marinated with fresh garlic and lemongrass sauce, then grilled to perfection (#1 DK staff pick),

3/ Coconut Almond Brown Rice (almond and brown rice cooked in coconut milk),

Here's the info about the Meditation Play:

Come explore with us meditation insights, exercises, and play from a certified ex-monk.

We'll have a quick one hour play / exploration on the hows, the whys, and the wherefores of meditation. Although this is a Buddhist-centric restaurant, the meditation is not linked to any religion, philosophy, guru, or movement. Your ex-monk-for-an-hour, Michael, has been meditating for 15 years and was a traveling monk for 5 of those years, having taught in Canada, Mexico, and the States. Michael feels that spirituality works best when it's kept light and easy. If nothing else, you will join with an interesting mix of fellow spiritual foodies! What's the relationship between spirituality and food? What does blessing one's food do? Why not discuss it with your new dining companions? It's sure to be a fascinating group!

Please only register if you really plan to attend. No shows are not acceptable for this event as we will be charged for all those who are registered.

As we often note: You do not need to find a friend to accompany you to this event so you have someone to talk to. We all have enough in common through our concerns about food choices that we always have lots of inroads to make connections and conversations flow super well 98% of the time, so don't be shy. Chances are you will make a new friend!
