Hey, peeps! Conrad's given me the green light to try a little experiment: if I can snag some volunteers, my reading will be an excerpt from a play I'm working on. Would 2 men and 2 women be willing to do a little acting (sitting in chairs-type acting, not actual staging)? Ideally, both men and one of the women would be of the 20s/30s variety, and the 2nd woman of the late 40s to mid 50s variety, but I ain't picky. Give a holler if you're interested, and we'll see what we can make happen. Thanks!

The spider brain story belongs to the one and only Rob Callahan.

Thanks to all the reader/writer/volunteers. You were all Rock Stars! Every single one of you did a fantastic job. Double special thanks to Kelly Barnhill for coming down straight from the hospital. What a trooper! And thanks to Hilary, Bret and anyone else who uploaded all the great pix! There is a youtube video of the event, I've taken the video offline for some editing and cleanup, and will link to the video when I upload the cleaned up version. The manager at Acadia was pleased with the turnout and would love to have us back. (No damage deposit or anything!) Maybe we do it again next year?

One of the best MinnSpec get-togethers ever. Way to go Conrad. Thanks so much for setting it up and being the voice of the event. I hope we do it again.

Hey Gang, thanks to Bret's iPad we already have quite a few photos of the event, but we could always use more. I know others were taking pictures. If you took photos, upload them here and share them.

Enjoyed the event very much and look forward to more events. I appreciated the supportive crowd of writers and felt very comfortable reading. Great fun to hear others work. Thanks for the opportunity.

I'll be reading from one of my newer short stories.

I'd be willing to help you out Eli. I'm late 30's variety, so it's a good thing we're meeting this month. In December I'm going to be early 40's variety.

    I look forward to it!

I want to remind everyone that this is a public reading and not our normal "roundtable" critique. There will be a stage, microphone and PA system. The only feedback will be audience response, although there will be plenty of time for offline discussion after the readings are done.

I received a confirmation email to read at this event, but do not see my name on the list. Please advise

RSVP for attending the event is separate from RSVP for reading. If you'd like to read, email me at [masked] and I'll add you to the list!

I'll bring the MNSpec Lamp Post. If only we had a rack for books....

I assume selling books and handing out literature and bookmarks at the event is okay.

Bands play at Acadia all the time and have CDs for sale, so I'm sure it won't be a problem.

And the lamppost would look great on the stage! Definitely have a kind of street-corner-beat-poet feel. Break out the berets!

I will also bring my Square so we can take credit cards.

A rack for books, you say. I might have something heavy and wooden we can set some books on. It will hold about 8 to 10 titles, depending on the size of the books.

Just confirmed the event with Acadia. We start at Noon on the 17th!
