What Is It?

The Local Author Showcase allows MNSpec authors an opportunity to take the stage and read a short section of their work. (Appx 7 min) The readings are followed by a mingle/nosh/salon where fans can connect with authors, purchase works, have them signed, etc. Recordings of the readings will be uploaded to the MNSpec Youtube Channel, with the author's permission.

THIS IS A PUBLIC EVENT! Family, Friends and Fiction Lovers are encouraged to attend! Please help spread the word!

Why Would We Do Such A Thing?

• Provides a sampling of many different authors/genres in a short period of time.
• Connects authors with new fans
• Raises public awareness of MNSpec authors and the meetup group
• Highlights the diversity of authors and genres within MNspec and Speculative Fiction in general.

How Does It Work?

Anyone can volunteer to read except for those who read last year. It doesn't matter if you are published or not, traditional or self published. (But, authors with an actual published product to promote will get more out of it!) Volunteer at this thread (https://www.meetup.com/MinnSpec/messages/boards/thread/49295293).

Those chosen to read will receive more detailed instructions, but the short version is that readers take the stage for approximately 6-8 minutes, enough time to give potential fans a taste of their work. Reading order is determined at the venue. Acadia opens at 2PM on Sundays. Readings will start at 3.

After the readings, we nosh and mingle till 5. There will be a merch table for stuff to buy, and a promo table with things for authors to give away. Even authors who are not reading can bring books to sell and swag to give out. Everyone is responsible for their own stock, transactions and cleanup. Please don't leave anything behind at the venue.
