We will do a 1.5 - 2 HR hike at a moderate to fast pace.

Terrain: Easy to moderate, mainly rolling hills.

Equipment: You should bring a change of footwear for your ride home

Distance: Approximately 4-5 miles

Pace: Moderate to Brisk. Although this is a beginner hike, and nobody gets left behind, we tend to walk at a brisk pace. Please assess your ability to keep this pace before signing up.

Meeting location: We will meet at the the MAIN Parking lot for the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.

The Parking lot is located on the south side of Route 117 approximately halfway between Route 9A to the East and Route 9 to the West. There are gates and stone walls at the entrance, a large horse-trailer parking lot, a little toll booth, a visitors center and a bathroom building. We will meet at the restroom building in the parking lot.

Cancellation notices: I will cancel by 2:00 pm if the weather looks dicey or if the hiking conditions are not great.

Pets: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The park requires dogs to be leashed at all times. It is possible that we will encounter one or more horses with riders or carriages.

You are invited to join us for a moderate 10-mile hike with about 1800-feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 5 hours.
We will meet at 14 Ditz Rd, Panoma, NY 10970. GPS: 41.18512,-74.07453. Arrive at 8:30 AM for a prompt 8:45 AM start.

Bring appropriate gear including a light/headlamp, micro-spikes, food, and water. Review/bring your map to be aware of topography and our location.
Check the weather and dress appropriately.

If Unable to Attend: Please cancel at least 48 hours prior to the event, so people on the waitlist can attend. If on the day of the event, you cannot make it, please take your name off the going list. Not attending hikers will be marked as “No-Show.” People with multiple “No-Show” will not be allowed on future hikes. Thanks....

Temperatures vary so play downstairs next to the bar if uncomfortable. Downstairs can be too cool so dress in layers.

Parking is free in the second lot We will aim for 23 minutes per mile pace. Distance/Terrain : 4.5 to 5.5 miles across route 448 to Raven Rock and Goat Trail will be the goal. If inclement weather looks to be a problem, a revised post on cancelation or time change will be up by Wednesday 6 p.m.
