Happy New Year. Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday. Now that we've been back to reality - work and school, let's start our monthly meetup.
About the presentation: You will go on a journey of discovery, exploring the some of the details around Responsive Design. Understand what it is and what it is not. This presentation is focused more on the functional side of the Design (the business drivers), but there will be a little technical exploration towards the end.
6:30 - 7:00 pm: Networking
7:00 - 7:45 pm: Presentation by Sean Hanck
7:45 - 8:00 pm: Q&A session
8:00 - 8:30pm: Wrap up and networking
Other than our regular meeting, there are a few things happing in our community this month:
1) bv02 is hiring
bv02 is a results-driven digital creative agency that measures success by the success of its clients. They balance innovation with experience on every project, and they look for the same balance in the people who they work with. They are currently hiring for a few development positions, please see their careers page for more if you're interested. http://bv02.com/careers.
2) There will be some upcoming UX workshops in Ottawa. They are called "Persuasive Psychology for Interactive Design" and educate students on persuasive design used in today's leading websites and apps. The organizer offered us a free ticket giveaway (the code is uxottawa-free) and a 10% discount code: uxottawa10 (which can be used by an unlimited number of people). The early-bird deadline is on January 31st. For more information please visit their site: http://www.alterspark.com/training

3) Editors Association of Canada's Speaker Night on Wednesday, January 15th
Editors Association of Canada (EAC) kindly invited me as a keynote speaker, to provide a Freelancers Sales Training, for its Speaker Night. The theme of the event is about Contract 101. If you are interested in learning about how to get more clients and higher prices, please join me. Also, other local experts will be sharing their knowledge on the basics of developing contracts, winning contracts with the Canadian government, subcontracting, and more. For more information please visit EAC's site: http://www.editors.ca/content/contracts-101
That is all for now. Thanks again, I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
