What is the place for Stoicism in today's society?

Details
This week (17-23) is Stoic Week and we have a speaker, Donald Robertson (https://philosophy-of-cbt.com/donald-robertson/), who has kindly agreed to come and talk to us about Stoicism Today. We will then have the opportunity to discuss the question at hand in breakaway groups as normal and come back together as a larger group at certain points.
If you want to get a feel of the practicalities of the philosophy, try out the Stoicism Today's project which in encourages us to live like a Stoic for the week. http://modernstoicism.com (http://modernstoicism.com/). This might take about 15 minutes in the morning and evening, and the same at midday, although you might want to spend more or less time on the exercises. There are a few of us in Oxford who are participating in this exercise and will then feed our experiences back to the group at a second session in a couple of weeks so we can critically assess the practices. Let me know if you have also enrolled/ are thinking of enrolling (email me, Ben at pipsoxford@gmail.com).
Even if you are not thinking of participating in this year’s Stoicism Week, you might find it useful to look at the Stoicism Guidebook on the above link before the session. There’s also a few other useful links about Stoicism more generally below (thanks to Alex for garnering these):
• Major principle of Stoicism, includes a Stoic guidebook to life. http://www.pocketstoic.com/blog/5-stoic-principles-modern (also accessible at http://www.ofmonksandmen.com/?p=248 )

There's likely to be a suggested donation of £2-3 to attend this session to cover costs. Obviously, this is non-obligatory; if you are of more limited means, please donate what you feel is appropriate.
