Happy Ski & Snowboard Season - Last chance for Vail

From: Jason
Sent on: Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:19 AM
It?s snowing ? Christmas lights are up ? I have been on skis once already ? a bunch of people went to Brule last weekend ? I guess winter is here ? even if it?s not officially here for a few more days.

This is your last chance to sign-up for VAIL!

Come to the meeting tonight with your check in hand to guarantee your spot!

We currently have a small group of great people signed up. They are looking for some company on this awesome trip. Who else can organize a trip to Vail that includes a 5 day lift ticket with 6 possible ski days for $1235? That?s right ? NOBODY BUT PINE POINT!

DEADLINE: December 22! If you are not signed up by that point, you probably won?t be able to join us. If you are thinking about it, but can?t make the commitment on that date, please talk with Dukes and me now or at the meeting next week. We may be able to hold a spot.

Here are the real basics on the trip ? more details are at the end of the newsletter.

VAIL 3/26 to 4/2 $1235
AA to Denver, shuttle to the Vail
Evergreen Lodge (hotel style 2 per room)
5 of 6 day lift ticket included

This month I am hyping non-ski activities ? because we are more than just total snow fiends! Since this IS ski season, we only have a few other activities scheduled right now, but more are in the works. Fun stuff that is planned:

Concert nights 12/17 & 12/18 with
- Check for details

Salsa night ? the dancing not that spicy stuff they serve at Mexican restaurant, though come to think of it, the dancing can be kind of spicy and at a Mexican restaurant?
- Coming January 28 or 29 ? watch for details, but for now save the date.

Now, back to the real reason we are all in a SKI & SNOWBOARD club:

No, you don?t have to be a racer to go on any of the Midwestern trips, it?s just that we typically plan our trips around the race schedule.

Join us on the hill for some fun and speed. I realize most of us will never know anyone who is in the Olympics or on a national team, let alone being at them ourselves. I figure the closest I may ever get is to be a spectator. However, I can help you with at least part of that ? meeting some really nice people who happen to ski & board really fast!

Now, don?t worry, you don?t have to race against them! CMSC has a more than a dozen categories of racers so that each person can race against people with similar racing abilities. It?s more FUN and fair that way. Over my years of racing, I have seen plenty of people improve their skills because they spent some time in the gates. We have had people try racing after only being on skis for 2 or 3 days and they get hooked. You definitely don?t have to be an expert to race with us!

It is really all about having fun and getting on the snow! Plus, what else are going to do on cold weekends in Chicago? Sit home and mope about? No way ? Join us!
PS ? There is an awards party after the race day with plenty of free beer, raffle prizes, and lots of fun chatting with other nice snow lovers.
