Fungi for Fun, Fertility, and FOOD!

No location was chosen

Back By Popular Demand. Ran this workshop a few months back, and have had many requests to do it again!

*****

The name says it all: Everyone can (and should be) growing fungi for fun, fertility, and food!

In this workshop, we’ll explore various methods of growing edible fungi, and discuss how they can be integrated into your life in a way that’s fun, builds your soil fertility, and tastes wonderful with olive oil and garlic.

Our hands-on activities will show you how to grow two different species of mushrooms, oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and King Stropharia (Stropharia rugoso-anulata), on coffee grounds and woodchips respectively. After a little bit of talking about how mushrooms live and reproduce, we’ll help everyone build their own oysters-on-coffee-grounds grow kit to take home.

We’ll also discuss several other species and how to grow them.

Come get cozy with nature’s recyclers!

Fee is sliding scale, suggested payment is $35 per person, and goes toward the supplies for your mushroom buckets, and my time in preparing for, and teaching the class.

I loved meeting the new people at this workshop as well as reconnecting with the old! I am now so darn excited about mushrooms I'm crawling on the ground where ever I go. I can't wait to find more, grow more, and eat more! My garden will be happy.

this was my first meetup and it was fun! Leonard was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject and I feel like I learned a lot. Can't wait to eat some oyster mushrooms...

Leonard, you are an informed teacher with a personable laid-back style. you know a lot and it's refreshing that you admit it when you don't know something. I liked the range of info offered, and the focus on just two kinds of mushrooms. It took a lot of the mystique out of mushroom cultivation.
