Diversity Training: Race & Culture in Education

Details
Presented by Mother Earth School and the Mandala Center for Change (http://www.mandalaforchange.com/2013/race-culture-in-education-2014/). Our 2nd annual 2-day diversity workshop is designed for the individual, group or organization that values the awareness of and work towards understanding privilege, oppression and its implications in life and learning.
EXPLORE how one's social group membership (race, class, gender, etc..) affects one's experience in the world. UNVEIL racism and other forms of oppression embedded in education and society as a whole. DISCUSS how to talk to children about racism and other forms of injustice. LOOK honestly at power and privilege in a spirit of compassion. GAIN tools on how to be a more effective ally to yourself and others. LEARN to recognize and address your own internalized oppression. MOVE towards action and the creation of a more just future for all people.
