Publishing Point Presents: David Young, CEO of Hachette

From: Susan D.
Sent on: Thursday, December 9, 2010 9:52 AM
Hi Everyone,

I'm delighted to announce that as part of our continuing Publishing Point CEO Interview series, David Young, the Chairman and CEO of the Hachette Book Group, will be interviewed in midtown Manhattan on January 27th (mingling starts at 12:00pm; interview at 12:30pm). RSVPs for this event will open up on Wednesday, December 15th at 10:00am on Meetup. David will be interviewed by Michael Healy, Executive Director of the Book Rights Registry, who is back by popular demand. Previous CEOs in The Publishing Point CEO Series have included John Sargent, CEO of Macmillan, and Tim O'Reilly, CEO of O'Reilly Media. Many thanks to Bowker Identifier Services for sponsoring the upcoming interview.

In the meantime, I am looking forward to seeing those of you who signed up to hear Scott Heiferman, the founder of Meetup, this coming Tuesday, December 14th. He'll be discussing how books can spark community (specifically, local community everywhere) in fresh new ways -- and why that's powerful for authors and publishers. If you cannot come, please change your RSVP so that others can go in your place. If you're interested in coming and have not RSVPd, I invite you to join the waiting list here on Meetup, which often results in a spot.

If you have any questions for David Young, please enter them here -- and if you have any questions for Scott Heiferman, please enter them here.

Note that those of you who are the most active bloggers, tweeters, question-askers, and all-around Publishing Point cheerleaders will be rewarded with spots at upcoming events, which often fill up within the first few minutes of open RSVPs.

The Publishing Point relies on the generous support of sponsors to help offset the costs of organizing these talks. If you would like to help support our work, I would love to hear from you.

Finally, in case you missed them, videos of previous talks can be found here.

In case we're not in touch beforehand, happy holidays!
