The Big Sweep

Its year-round mission is to educate and motivate North Carolinians to change their behavior to achieve litter-free waterways and encourage water stewardship of North Carolinas coastal and inland waterways. The annual statewide Big Sweep event is held each year on the first Saturday in October. This project brings together private citizens, community organizations, businesses, schools, and other groups in every county of the state to take a stand against careless littering. These volunteers help collect and properly dispose of trash and debris littering our beaches, creeks, lakes, and streams. The symbol for USPS is a triangle, the three sides of which represent the three main aspects of USPS - civic service, self-education, and a fraternal boating club.
We will meet at the Highway 50 Ramp on Falls Lake at 9:00 AM
with our boats and clean up many of the areas that are only accessible by water. We will also have teams walking along the shoreline and picking up litter.

Please call or e-mail P/C Charles Miller if you are interested in participating in this worthwhile event at Falls Lake.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
