Talks for this MeetUp are...

Consistent user experience with React across multiple teams - Lawrence Song, Platform Architect at MYOB.

In the past, MYOB products has inconsistent user experience across multiple products. A year ago, we choose React as our front end stack. In this presentation, I want to share with you on our journal of using react to build consistent user experience across multiple teams. And how we migrate our monolith applications to modularise front-end so we can deploy independently.

SVGs in React - Ken Ding (REA)A shallow dive into why svgs are more than just images, and how React makes working with SVGs fun!

Make React Testing Easier with Enzyme - Lifei Zhou, Software Developer in MYOB

When we select a tool in software development, one of the criteria is whether it is easy to write testable code. React provides the TestUtils, but the utilities are not intuitive and flexible enough. With Enzyme you can write easily maintainable and readable React component tests and speed up your front-end test driven development.

Using Typescript with React - Mair Swartz, Team Leader at Oakton

Typescript starts and ends with JavaScript and helps solve certain issues that are inherent in loosely typed languages. Early this year Typescript 1.8 was released which introduced support for jsx syntax. This means that you can now write ES6 jsx syntax with a type safety net and IDE typed support

In this session we will cover

• Setting up typescript

• Typescript and jsx syntax with es6 (JavaScript 2015)

• Library support (such as redux)

• Making Jason type safe

Mair has been programming since 1998 (starting with micro-controllers in assembler and moving through C, C# and JS). Mair fell in love with React in 2013 when learning the MEAN stack and Meteor - and has been studying it ever since. He is currently team leader for consultancy firm Oakton - writing enterprise intranent and social applications.

Talks go for 20-40 mins including question time and are done in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
