Scenic Sakonnet Ride Part III

  • This location is shown only to members

I had a request to post a ride that is on road and scenic. This is  the ride to take if you want to see a part of our state that is still unspoiled rolling farm land that disappears into the ocean front. Beautiful beach views and a quaint town center and much more. A large portion of this ride will be in Tiverton. We will ride into Adamsville and depending on the group, we can do a Westport loop before returning back to Tiverton and our cars.

YOU SHOULD BE CARRYING A SPARE OR PATCH KIT. NOBODY WANTS TO HAVE TO WALK THE BIKE FOR MILES.

Bring the standard necessary gear.  Water, a couple of bottles for this ride. Sunscreen, glasses, wind layer. HELMET.

This is a Level 3 Three Event :
Level 3 (Difficult) I would like to ride 20+ miles. We will encounter some hills on this ride, a few good ones!

Duration: we will be stopping to smell the roses so lets say three hours. It won't take that long, but in case we want to stop at the beach or in town.

Recommended for members who have completed one or more moderate rides recently.

Liability Waiver
As a condition of your voluntary participation in this activity you acknowledge and agree to the following: this activity involves inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in this activity; you know and will follow the Hiker Responsibility Code described at www.hikesafe.com; the leader(s) of this activity are volunteers; and you for yourself, your heirs, executors, and administrators release, hold harmless, and indemnify the leader(s) and all members of this group from any and all claims for property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death - including those caused by negligence and/or other reasons.

From Providence: Take Route 195 east to Route 24 south (in Fall River, MA). Travel Route 24 south to the Route 77 south exit. Follow Route 77 for 4.1 miles to Seapowet Avenue on the right. Turn onto Seapowet Avenue and continue 0.2 miles to the refuge parking lot on the right.

Wow, 31 miles of unending scenic vistas of some of RI's most unspoiled landscape. This is why Little Compton should stay "little". I'm so happy to have been able to share this piece of heaven in RI. A note to Halina who earned every 31 miles riding the mountain bike and keeping up! Thanks to all for signing up and keep me company. I had a great ride.

Thank you so much Leanne for one of the most scenic rides I had this year. A great group of riders and a wonderful mix of hills which spread out enough so it didn't kill us, but did give a great workout. Your the BEST!!

The ride, scenery and partners were great. Thanks Leanne. I enjoyed it immensely, even during the flight over the handlebars.

I hope the concord grape aroma still lingers in the area.
