Edge of the Empire (EotE) is a narrative-driven RPG set in the Star Wars universe's gritty fringes—think smugglers, bounty hunters, and fringe dwellers dodging Hutts, Imperials, and rival scum.
Core Mechanics: Narrative Dice System
Forget D&D's d20—EotE uses custom polyhedral dice in pools of Ability, Proficiency, Difficulty, and Challenge. Roll and tally symbols:
Success/Advantage: Move the plot forward (hits land, complications arise).
Failure/Threat: Setbacks happen (misses hurt, enemies gain edges).
Triumph/Despair: Big swings—epic boons (ally shows up) or disasters (betrayal).
Skills (e.g., Blaster, Piloting) tie to Characteristics (e.g., Agility, Intellect, rated 1-5). Boosts/Setbacks add helpful/hindering dice.
It's fast, cinematic, and story-first.
Plot Summary:
In the fragile peace of the New Republic era, the crew takes a job from Daroth, a former Imperial Inquisitor they freed from captivity. Daroth plans to rebuild his own Imperial faction and needs the crew to retrieve a hidden war cache on Teth — a jungle world once home to secret Imperial outposts.
But Teth is already crawling with the Mining Guild and rival Imperial Remnants, each after the same prize. As the mission unfolds through treacherous cliffs and rain-soaked ruins, the crew must decide where their loyalties lie: with Daroth’s dangerous ambition, their own credits, or survival itself.
Pregens will be available unless you wish to build your own character before the session.
Expected length roughly 3-4 hours long.
