Winter, Spring Summer and Fall weekly North Ride (20-30miles)

Portland Meeting Spot -5:15 PM - West End of Anchor way at the Bike Path. Head west from Subway 919 N. Anchor Way (right off Marine Drive East of I5)  - This time will change to 5:45 on the days we do a Portland Route. If you are new, the two riding starts may seem confusing but just call us if there is any confusion.  We do our best to make sure the regular riders know about you and help you find the rest of us.

Please call! Do not Text as it is too easy to miss the single beep of a text.

Type of ride:  C D  – 1 2,3  (some of the group runs about 18 on flats these days -Some go 14-15.  We regroup as needed and try to keep it a group ride - This is a group social ride.  If you are in need of major training this may not be the ride for you.  There are days when you can get in a fast ride but it is rare.  We usually meet after the ride for food and beverages somewhere close to one of the start points.

Ride description – Wednesday weekly ride, into year two and still going strong. We usually head to the end of the road in Vancouver.  About 22 miles total from Who Songs, a bit further for the Portland folks.  We do change the route somtimes but our default is the Vancouver side.  Speed tends to be a pretty wide range and we regroup as needed.  Some of the group is happy at a 18 mph pace on the flats but you should be able to at least ride a 14/15 MPH pace on flats to keep up.  If we are not going to ride the regular route we try to post on the site, but sometimes the decision gets made at the ride start due to weather, etc.   Please note the ride leader phone number and email them yours.  We try check in with everyone before we head out if we can't find you.  Call us if you can't find us too! Especially if you did not sign up and we do not know you are coming.

!!!IMPORTANT!!! Please call the ride leader if you will be late or coming without signing up.  We don't wait if you are not on our ride list. If you sign up late you may also want to call.

Cancellation information for bad weather will be posted on the BOB site. This is a weekly ride that operates as as an autonomous collective and at times the decision making for the after ride refreshments can be quite comical.  So bring your riding legs and come out for a good time.

Mandatory for all riders.

Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request. Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road, represent us well. All riders are responsible to have their ride in good working order and bring a flat kit & spare tube on all rides. If there is an issue with proper working or lack of equipment you may be asked to sit the ride out. Please ask for help if you are ill equipped prior to the ride, we will help!

Gonna Pass.. not ready for Salmon Creek route

    May 30, 2012

Here is a suggested route for tonight. http://goo.gl/maps/p9y9. It includes both the Salmon Creek and Burnt Bridge Creek trails. It is a distorted figure 8 route. It avoids the traffic of Lakeshore Ave at the cost of a steep climb. But if part of the group prefers a Lakeshore route, we can regroup at the start of the Salmon Creek trail.
