What we’re about

Overview:

ROS the Robot Operating System from ROS.org is the acceptance standard software used to control the next generation of intelligent and versatile robots. Silicon Valley is at the heart of this adaptation of ROS, we must join together and share our knowledge and experiences with ROS systems.

The SV ROS users group is for all skill levels. All are welcome to learn how to shorten the ROS learning curve and get your robotic controller ideas, created and tested quickly.

In the near future ROS will be the most common robotics controller software, become part of this leading robotics success. It is imperative that the SV ROS users make ROS accessible and practical for anyone. Come share your robotic experiences with like minded DIYs.

Mission Statement: <br>

To provide hands-on training and code examples of implementing ROS for anyone who is interested. To participate in Robotic challenges using ROS as the programming language. To keep current on new ROS releases and ways to implement sensors, actuators, algorithms as we use them on our base robots. To provide training on how to use all the tools that make ROS such a great robot platform to build upon

Brain Stem:

The Brain Stem is our main discussion / example implementation of ROS. We will maintain a downloadable image of our Brain Stem ROS robot controller to our members. This image can be used on any ubuntu computer and is a base controller to build any size or type of robot.

Training:

We will provide a hands-on topic in our general meeting on how to use the Brain Stem ROS code with examples and code. We will provide training on how to install, configure a wide variety of computers to use ROS and how to install the Brain Stem code onto it.
