Let's Take a Hike: Starved Rock (Eagle Watch Weekend)
We have 2 starting times since some people can't make it by 9:00 am.
We will meet between 9:00 and 9:15 at the Illinois Waterways Visitors Center for the Eagle Watch:

The Eagle Watch shouldn't take that long. The Illinois Water Way Visitor Center isn't that big. We will watch for eagles off the observation deck and look at the displays. It should only take about 30 to 45 minutes or so then we will head for the hike. If you want to attend one of the seminars then you can return after the hike.
Then we will meet at 10:15 at Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center for the hike:

We will depart for the at 10:30 sharp. Please be on time.
We will start the day with Eagle Watching at Illinois Waterway Visitor Center. We will then head over to Starved Rock Visitor Center to start the hike. (The length of the Hike is to be determined. 5-10 miles) We will be hiking at a very casual pace. We will finish off the day by going to the Great Hall of Starved Rock Lodge for free lectures & exhibits on “Birds of Prey”.
We will meet at 9:00 Illinois Waterway Visitor Center. Not Starved Rock Visitor Center. Illinois Waterway Visitor Center is located to next to Starved Rock Lock and Dam.
Don’t forget a camera and binoculars. You should bring plenty of water and a snack for the hike. You will need to wear boots. Dress in layers for the temperature.

28rd & 29th Eagle Watch Weekend 9:00-5:00p.m. Hosted by the Illinois Audubon Society. Free lectures & exhibits on “Birds of Prey” at the Lodge. Eagle viewing from the Veranda, so bring your binoculars! Raptor awareness presentations at 10a.m., Noon, 2 & 4 by the World Bird Sanctuary features birds of prey including a bald eagle. Seating is limited.
Directions to Illinois Waterway Visitor Center:
Take I-55 South to I-80. Go west on I-80 for 45 miles to Exit #81 (Rt. 178 Utica). Go South and pass thru Utica to Dee Bennett Road and turn Left (East). Go approximately two miles to the Lock and Dam.
After hike Dinner
We will be going to Shakers after the hike. We will hike until 1:15 and head over there. Shakers is in Ottawa about 15 miles away. It is 2 block north of I-80 on Route 23. It is right on the way home.
