Robot Day at Central Library

Join the Library and the local robotics community on April 11 for a celebration of robotics technology and its impact on society. Attendees will be able to build their own basic robot they can take home with them. The free event is for children, teens and adults with an interest in robotics, science and engineering and is from Noon to 4 pm at the Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common. The event will span three levels of the Library and will feature hands-on activities, robot competitions and exhibits from local robotics firms. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best robot outfit. Space will be provided for those who want to bring and discuss their own robots. Presentations in the Auditorium will focus on robotics and programming with 5D Robotics CEO David Bruemmer making the keynote remarks at 12:30 pm. Bruemmer and his San Diego-based firm are recognized leaders in the development and commercialization of robotics software and work with robotics and sensor companies on robotic solutions for landmine detection, urban search and rescue, and decommissioning of radioactive environments.
