For New and/or Inexperienced Divers Only! We want you!

Details

  • New and/or inexperienced divers only RSVP on this page *

Make sure you bring your cert card!

Free and open to the entire dive community!

Everyone bring a small side dish to add to our food fest.

STARBUCKS is providing the coffee! Thanks, Seattle's best!

This is an absolute "No-Flake" event.

BAR-B-Q after the dive! Power Scuba is bringing some meat for the grill. You bring a side to share and a beverage.

You've got your cert card, you know your skills, but maybe you've been out of the water for a few months. Maybe San Diego diving is new to you. Maybe you're a brand new diver. Wouldn't it be great to be paired up with a strong, experienced diver who can share his/her knowledge and suggestions with you? Someone to go under with you who has a watchful eye? Someone you KNOW won't abandon or ignore you?

That is precisely what this event is offering! Experienced divers who know their stuff... ready and willing to be your partner! No more excuses... time to get in the water. Spring is here!

There will be a pool of experienced divers waiting to buddy up with you! Get there early to have time for talking and meeting others.

The following dive shops/instructors have agreed to send experienced staff to supplement our pool of talent. Big thanks to:

Dive Shack (El Cajon) Ocean Enterprises (Kearny Mesa) Unified Team Diving (Sorrento Valley)

GEAR: You will need all your own gear. Rentals are available at most of the local dive stores listed here: Dive Stores (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/messages/boards/thread/6696656). But DON'T wait until that morning to attempt a rental. You'll be disappointed.

CAVEAT: This will not be a "Scuba Review Class" or anything similar... just one diver helping another. If you need a Review class then PLEASE take a Review class at a local shop! As a matter of fact, some area dive shops are doing a lead-up promo (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/events/107238562/) to this event. They're offering STEEPLY discounted Tuneup classes (https://www.meetup.com/Scuba-Diving-San-Diego/events/107238562/). Way cheap! ...NOW what's you're excuse? http://img2.meetupstatic.com/1723755200050492932723/img/smileys/biggrin.gif

Bring your cert card. No card, no dive!

Don't RSVP "Yes" here unless you mean it. (Don't take a spot away from somebody else if you're not serious about attending.)

Get there early because parking can indeed suck! You may leave your extra gear on the grass while you dive. There will be dozens of divers around as well as our event support crew. (Though Power Scuba and its staff accept no responibility for the same.)

There will be no professional or teaching relationship between divers... either real or implied. The organizers are not "leading" this event... rather they are facilitating the meeting of the listed divers in order to maximize comfort levels and enjoyment of the dive.

"Getting out there and meeting dive buddies is one of the more intimidating parts of being a new diver." -Power Scuba member
