Dirk Eddelbuettel, author and maintainer of Rcpp, will be presenting an overview and introduction on R and C++ as well applications and extensions.

Someone will be at the door of the Thomas building to let people and there will be signs about this R user group posted.  The Thomas building can be seen here:

with the blue arrow the best place to enter after hours.  Generally there is street parking on Aloha or Minor Ave after hours.  Note this is different than the building we usually meet in.

Good meeting, interesting stuff. It would be good to go out after one of these meetings sometime, though this one ran a bit late and I suspect folks wanted to get home.

Excellent introduction to Rcpp that was rich in detail. (But the presentation went on a little too long.)

This was a very informative, most excellent talk, even for a C novice like myself.
I liked the performance comparisons and overview of techniques for working with Rcpp - that gave me a clear idea of why I might want to use the package.
