Seeking the Muse Pages

Hello fellow Seekers of the Muse!

I would like to welcome you to the group known as Seeking the Muse.

This group has been running strong for quite a while now and it has taken on some special qualities.
Be ye warned, that we often discuss Pirates, Ninjas, Zombies, and Sock Puppets!
The start time varies depending on when people show up and how much chit-chat is going on in the beginning. Fully read each event for all of the details.

This group is full of jokers and playful people. This group is designed as a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
If you are looking for something with more structure, or a more serious tone, there are some wonderful groups out there that you might want to check out as side options. I encourage my members to join as many groups as they'd like so they can get different experiences and opinions from other people.

When thinking of a good definition of this group for the "About" section on this site, I not only had to think about my vision of the group, but I also had to consider the parts of the chosen name.

To seek is "to go in search or quest of" or "to try to obtain."

A muse can be defined as "the goddess or the power regarded as inspiring a poet, artist, thinker, or the like."
In terms of Classical Mythology this often refers to the daughters of Zeus.
A muse is also a "guiding spirit" or "source of inspiration."

(I am not professing nor condoning any particular religion, just stating the definition of the word and the meaning behind it.)

With this in mind, Seeking the Muse is about looking for a source of inspiration.
This group is designed to inspire and encourage writers, poets, novelists, song-writers and like-minded people.

Whether you write prose, poetry, short stories, novels, fiction, non-fiction, songs, or something entirely different, this group is all about expressing yourself creatively.
It is also a social group where you can meet others with similar interests, be supportive to others as you work, share ideas, and have fun while you're at it.

My intention is to provide a comfortable environment and safe space for you to be creative. If you want to participate in the group activities you are encouraged to do so. If you just want to come and use the time to work on your own projects, that is fine. You are welcome to come and take a nap in your chair or on the floor if you want to. This group is here to supply you with the time and space to be creative or to just relax and unwind.

We will be having creative workshops with different activities and themes. This group is designed to keep the creative juices flowing. We will be socializing and occasionally we will participate in activities outside of the group designed to encourage play and to inspire. Be sure to remember to bring what you'll need: pens or pencils, a notebook or a laptop, a desire for fun, and a sense of humor.

Age Restrictions: 18 and above.
Regarding the age range for this group I have taken certain things into consideration. Some writers/artists choose to include adult topics or profanity in their work, and I do not want to, nor need to, censor them. Since some subjects may not be suitable for a younger crowd, I am making this an 18 and over group.
I do not mean to hurt any feelings or to exclude anyone, but this is necessary to avoid breaking any obscenity laws.
I highly encourage anyone under 18 interested in this area to start their own teen group. If you want to start a teen group and would like some starter ideas, feel free to contact me.

This group has interactive pages so click the links on the top of the page to see what's going on. The Message Boards have announcements and extra creative exercises to work on in between groups. The Files link takes you to files that you can download, such as our Mission Statement, Character Background sheet, Group Business Cards, etc. The Money link takes you to the page where you can view the group's expenses and income. I chose to make the group expenses viewable to our members so that you can know what's coming in and going out of the group funds. The Calendar has the listings of our events. The Members link shows you who is in the group. The Photos link takes you to our photo albums. The Mailing List is a way to get in contact with the members of the group. The Polls link takes you to group survey questions and some that are just for fun.

With that said, I look forward to meeting you all and hope to see you soon.
Have a fantastic day!

When a sponsor comes along they will be promoted on this page, as well as on the front page. I encourage you to check out who is sponsoring our group and to put them at the top of your list when looking for supplies or places to take your business. These kind people and businesses have taken the time to support us, so let us show them support in return.

Thank you.
