CANCELLED: Hubbard House Domestic Violence Awareness Walk

Details
Sat 4/6, 8:00 am, 2013 Setting the Pace for Peace: Hubbard House Domestic Violence Awareness Walk
The walk, being held at The Jacksonville Landing, is a FREE, fun, family-friendly event which includes games, activities, music, a 2-mile walk route overlooking the beautiful downtown Jacksonville skyline and the St. Johns River, and more. A shorter 1-mile walk route is also available. Family Fun Zone begins at 8:00am, and the actual walk begins at 9:00am.
We will meet on the southeast corner of S. Hogan Street & Water Street, outside the Landing itself no later than 8:15 am and then get ready for the walk. There are numerous parking garages in the immediate vicinity of the Jacksonville Landing, and with the event being held on a Saturday should allow for ample parking. Street parking in metered spaces on Saturdays is free also.
For more complete information, and to register as an individual participant (to have your walk count towards volunteer hours), please go to Hubbard House’s website at www.hubbardhousewalk.com (http://www.hubbardhousewalk.com/) and resister to join a team. It is important to register online (I registered the team Sidetrackers, so register as one of it’s team members) as soon as possible so that the organizers can provide enough water and volunteers for the event. If you need help with registration or other information, you can contact Ashley Johnson Scott at Hubbard House at 904-354-0076 extension 212. Once you register with the team, you will receive emails from Hubbard House with further critical information about this event, including parking and weather for the day of the event.
By participating in the Setting the Pace for Peace Walk, you are making a difference in the lives of women, children, and men who have experienced domestic violence. I am not ashamed to admit that I am a survivor of domestic violence both as a child and as an adult, and I volunteer every week at the battered woman’s center. So come, have fun, meet new people, and enjoy making a difference in changing a societal issue!
