Building an Internet of Things - The Imp Revisited and Pushing Data using Faye

There will be two talks in May!

Building an Internet of Things - The Imp Revisited with Ralph Iden

Last November Ralph introduced us to the Imp, an innovative embedded controller and WIFI radio in a SD card form factor.  Tonight he will provide an update on the Imp, field questions, and share some of his applications using the Imp that have been built over the past few months.

Ralph will also be bringing along a few Raspberry Pi units and demo what the little $35 single board computer can do.  The Pi is ARM based, runs Linux, and has built in video, audio, and USB support. The Imp will be compared and contrasted with the Raspberry Pi, showcasing the strengths of each device.

Come to the Meetup, be a little Impish and enjoy some Raspberry Pi.

Ralph is a Principal Developer at Follett Software Company with over 30 years of experience developing commercial software applications using a variety of languages and frameworks. He likes to create tools to make developing software more enjoyable and dabbling with parsers, electronics, and embedded micro-controllers. His mantra is, "Don't annoy your customers".

Pushing Data using Faye with Bob Lasch

Requesting data from the client to the server?  That's so 1990's.  Pushing data from the server to the browser is where it is at.  We'll explore some options at pusing data to the browser from the server.

Bob is a husband, father, and professional geek.  He has a BS Computer Science from UW Parkside, a MBA from Cardinal Stritch, and he still can't decide what to do when he grows up.  His daytime job is working for Barclays.  His current passion is working on a new project, datamutanda.com, with a very motivated and talented group or software developers.
