Point Defiance Park 10K Walk

What a great walk around Point Defiance! Did you know this park is the 2nd largest city park in the country? Second to Central Park in New York. The land was originally set aside by President Andrew Johnson to be a Federal Military reservation, but was undeveloped and given to Tacoma in 1888 as a park.  The picture on the left is of the Pagoda's opening in 1914.

We walk around the park on road shoulders with the many great view points of the sound. This is volkssport year-round walk Y366, rated 2A.

The walk starts at the Boathouse Marina and Tackle Shop near Anthony's Restaurant. While it starts walking uphill, it's mostly gradual, just a few short steeper sections, and we'll end it by coming down the hill to Owen's beach and walking along the water back to the start.

Lunch anyone? We'll decide along the way.

It was nice how the sun came out part of the time and how pretty it was as it reflected off the water and trees.

The sun came out and there was some wind, the rain slowed way down, until we were having lunch! The walk turned out great!!! I am so glad I did not cancel today....

Great walk, a few raindrops, and seven hundred acres of beautiful forest!

The wind is blowing and rain is sideways where I live. I love walking but I think this weather is a bit too much for a 10k. For those who are going, have a great time. Sorry I will miss today. I have been waiting to see Pt Defiance by foot.

The only reason I will not show up is if it's horizontal rain.
