membership dues

Hi all,

I have had alot of questions in the past 24 hours about membership dues so i'll try to address them all with this email.

How much are the dues?

$10.00 a year like i said this will help pay for the website any handouts, materials needed for events (like paracord, paper, ink, photocopies and anything else we should need)

When should we pay our dues?

I would like to start collecting them next year in January and then every year in January.

Are you looking on becoming a non-profit or chartered organization?

The short answer is "NO" the money and time involved to do such a task is very expensive.  I should know first hand by being president of two different 501-C-3 non-profit organizations in the past.  I'm not looking to make this a buisness this was started so like minded folks could get together to share information and to learn about survival and bushcraft "not to make a profit"

Are my dues, due now?

"NO" starting in January 2014.

Why not charge a small fee for each meetup?

Well if I did that I wouldn't have to ask for dues which I believe are very reasonable at $10.00 a year.  Also by doing that it would be more expensive for the membership say we have 20 meetups this year at $5.00 an event your looking at $100.00 a year versus $10.00 a year do the math. ;)

What would happen to money left on the table at the end of each year?

Good question, I'd like to see any extra monies used for the membership be it buying t-shirts, sweatshirts or some other apparrel with the group name on it or another idea say we're left with $500.00 buck or so lets have a BBQ or picnic with these monies used for the food and supplies for such an event.  If you should have any other ideas for such monies i'm always open for suggestions.

Won't charging a membership due exclude some folks?

Not at all if you feel as though this group has given you some knowledge to take with you to the grave then it's worth all of 10 bucks and if someone is really financially strapped we can work something out.

I hope this answers most of the questions and if you have any concerns, ideas, suggestions, ETC.  Please feel free to email me personnally at [address removed] or give me a jingle my cell is always on and I even answer at work. (610)[masked]

Thank you everyone and hope to see you at one of the upcoming events!
