PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE MOVING BACK TO WILKINS SCHOOL COMMUNITY CENTER.

Adam has created a great playlist, including a number of non-365 songs. PDF of his tunes are available for printing HERE (http://files.meetup.com/6060022/September%204%20Playlist.pdf) (on our "Files" page). Included are: Fishin' Blues; Cupid; Political Science; It Ain't Necessarily So; You and I; Lazy River; Mood Indigo; NObody Knows You When You're Down and Out; and Summertime. Don't forget your copy of "The Daily Ukulele...365."

Here are links that Adam is providing:

These are the links to audio/video for this weeks playlist. It will help to provide a reference for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the songs:

SCU Links (9/4/13)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQQk8h46Gkk It Ain't Necessarily So (Cover: Hugh Laurie)

This one has altered/additional lyrics, but has the tempo and flavor that I feel is desirable for the song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdEN1b-dwlw You and I Original-ish

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KewtnSorKxE Up a Lazy River (Cover: Bobby Darin)

This is closer to the tempo I prefer than the Mills Brothers version.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gayRQHqCfBM Mood Indigo (Ella Fitzgerald w/ masters of jazz, Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Alvin Stoller & Pittsburgh's own, Ray Brown.) We'll start the song right at the vocal; roughly :16 into the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aDykZEATzk Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out (Cover: Eric Clapton) I like the tempo and acoustic strings of this version.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MzU8xM99Uo Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out (Performance: Bessie Smith) This version provides a very authentic take on the original composition. I believe this was recorded in 1929, six years after it was written.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrBCOEjnBP8 Summertime (Cover: Mica Paris) I like to push the tempo on the song (as I am wont to do) but this is a beautiful rendition for anyone that isn't familiar with the song.

The sheet music for the playlist is a single file, titled September 4 Playlist (http://files.meetup.com/6060022/September%204%20Playlist.pdf). I will upload the individual files, in the near future, to the alphabetical list.

Bi-Monthly Uke Sessions: 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of each month. Come at 6:45 pm to tune-up and talk. We play from 7 to 9 pm. After we play and make announcements, we jam "song-circle" style. The setting is friendly and informal with no commitment required - just bring your uke and join us. We encourage solo play for advanced players.

Music: Our text is "The Daily Ukulele, 365 Tunes." We also use tunes from websites, such as Dr. Uke. If you would like to introduce a new song to the group, please bring a minimum of 20 copies to pass out.

Experience: None required! All levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals. If you don't know the chords... just sing louder.
