Suburban Cyclists Unlimited is a group of active recreational cyclists who tour the roads and trails of Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties and the surrounding suburbs of Philadelphia. Weekend rides are offered throughout the year. Regular weeknight rides are offered from April through September. SCU also sponsors the Quad County Metric in May. Come join us on a ride. Hello Everybody!

As many of you are aware, over the past several years, our club has become a major success. For instance; over the past week, we had 10 additional sign ups. That is as as good as it gets!  With this success, however, a much greater responsibility arises to ensure our established members fairly enjoy their rights, those of safety and insurance protection, as well as calendar events and communication privileges.  We encourage new riders to join our Club and pay their dues. It is in this spirit that, after a long debate, the EC agreed on a new membership policy.  The agreement came after months of deliberation, consultation, and communication with RSLO's (Ride Start Location Organizers) and many ride leaders. The EC arrived at an agreement that with our club's rapidly growing popularity, a change is necessary. We recognize and respect the past 25 years of excellence and SCU tradition of riding enjoyment being worth preserving; therefore, we cannot jeopardize this by the harsh reality of today's litigious society.The EC is fully committed as a body to make this policy a success, and will assist our members in any way we can.  We are fully aware that implementation might be a challenge. However, by publicizing this policy and encouraging discussion now, we will be in good position to answer questions about it next spring, and refer people to it henceforth in print anywhere and everywhere within our organization.

As mentioned above, the policy was regarded as much-needed and long overdue, and we hope you all receive it in the spirit it is intended - to keep all of you safe.   Please reach out to your favorite EC member with any questions or concerns.

Effective 10/1/16, the following new SCU Membership Policy went into effect:

"A person who desires to participate in club rides and other activities shall be required to join the Club and pay required membership fees within 30 days from the earlier of the person attending a club ride or registering on the club's MeetUp site. Prospective members will have a free 30-day trial subscription on Meetup. If a prospective member has not joined the Club and paid required membership fees within the 30 day period, they will be deactivated from the Meetup site, not have access to Meetup or the Club's email listserver or be permitted to attend Club rides or activities. The 30 days starts from the earlier of their first ride with club or signing up for Meetup. Ride leaders are expected to follow this policy to the best of their ability, with support, help, and assistance by the EC and Ride Coordinator. This policy is promulgated to assure that all those who benefit from the Club's activities and insurance policies pay their fair share to support the associated costs".  JOIN or RENEW at www.suburbancyclists.org.
